A Case of ADD

As I said before, I have problems sticking with one project. I lay there last night thinking of various things to make, I'm feeling inspired now that my brother and I have our etsy shop going. I jump from one thing to another, I definitely need to finish things, I just can't seem to help myself! I'm going to continue with my new ideas anyway and hop back and forth till I get them done. I'm just happy I've broke through the brain freeze and thought of things to make! I'm off to finish baking bread and do a few chores and then I believe I will sit and work on a project. I got this yarn for it today, some nice spring colors.

A Two Man Crew

My brother and me, we're best friends. Right along with my kids I could not live without him. Here's a pic of us taken summer before last and one from when we were kids. Christopher was sick and laying on the couch so I went to comfort him and fell asleep. We did not have an easy childhood and we developed a bond early on. My kids dote on him, he's always there for us. We are starting an etsy shop together, called A Two Man Crew. Yes, it's from the Peanuts. As it says in the song:  Partners, Pals, Comrades, Chums! Buddies To The End, Whatever Comes. I hope everyone has someone special in their lives, it sure makes it worth while.

Crochet A Rainbow

As I mentioned in my last post, I started making squares for Crochet A Rainbow. I spent the day with my brother, he's making squares as well. I try to hang out with my brother as often as I can, he's been my best friend since we were tiny kids. Here's a pic of  the first three squares I've made. Hope to see a lot of people respond to donating squares. Details are in my last post. My brother and I are talking about making squares and putting them together to take to the rescue mission in town when we're done with the rainbow squares. There are a lot of people in need right now. I'm also working on a couple of projects for my etsy shop I share with my brother. We're still working on the design and making projects to post. Looking forward to that. I'm off to go home now, it's been a good day.

Two Things

I managed to use a few of those squares to make a little box of sorts. It was originally a pattern for a yarn bag from Elizabeth Cat, I just left off the handles. So now I need some more ideas to use for the rest of the squares.  Maybe tomorrow. Tonight is TV night.

Now I want to tell you about Sarah London. She is collecting granny squares to send to Australia, they've had such a bad time with the floods. She will sew them all together into blankets and send them off. Check out her site if you're interested in helping. The link is here.  Blessings to all.

Grannies

I dug around and found a big pile of granny squares. Some were for a shawl or an afghan, some just to try a pattern out. I throw them in the closet and since I decided to clean out said closet I have to figure out what to do with them all. I really like By Hook By Hand's pattern for a pocket doll house, I could try that. The Royal Sisters have a little bag made of grannies that would be cute too. Possibly a pillow cover? I'll have to play around and see what I come up with. I have a few ideas brewing in my head of things I'd also like to make to sell. I need to learn to write these things down and draw pictures. The problem is I usually think of these things during the night. A notebook by the bed as my brother tells me might help. First I would have to work up the will to get OUT of bed, but I'll give it a go.

Baby Bunnies

I mostly want to talk about crochet but I had to post this since I finally got a picture of them all together. Sweet little things, I think they all look pretty healthy and they sure bop around like they are. When they open their eyes I'll know they are about ten days old. Then around fourteen days old they'll come out and start hopping around. Can't wait for that. I'm off to look for supplies for a quick project I found and want to try.

Huuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh?

I got a surprise yesterday, good and bad. We brought two rabbits home a week apart last summer. We were told they were both girls. Yesterday morning I went out to feed cinnamon and here's the bad news, I found a dead baby bunny in the cage. Seeing as we always thought we had girls this was a bit of a surprise. We built an insulated box on the back of the cage and there Cinnamon had babies. Eight to be exact but three have died. It's hard to look at them, they are so tiny. The father is also gone, as he has attacked several of us and Cinnamon. So I aim to help her keep the rest healthy, hopefully they will all make it. They seem very plump and lively so I'm not too worried. The good thing is I get to see these sweet things grow. What I will do with them all is a mystery! Here's a photo of momma, the dark one, one of her babies and dad. She was watching me closely so I only got a picture of one baby. There is one the exact color of Cinnamon and the rest are very light. Should be interesting to see what they wind up looking like.

UFO'S

I seem to have problems finishing projects. There are so many cool things to make I get very side tracked. I've been cleaning my closet out and was startled to find several ufo's. This vintage stripe afghan is one. I really like it, the colors are awesome and it's incredibly thick and delish. I've made myself a promise to go through all these ufo's and get them finished before I start anything else. As this is a heavy afghan I will start with it so we can use it the rest of the winter. This is where I found the pattern-http://belladia.typepad.com. It is called vintage vertical stripe afghan. Are you like me, do you have a lot of ufo's lying around?

Video Games

A day off to play! Left For Dead to be exact, on the 360. My brother and I play for hours, then we crochet and watch movies and pig out. My kind of day. Anyone else like video games? I have a wii and a ps3 but I hardly ever play. Pretty much just with my brother. Also the occasional time I feel guilty and decide to use the wii fit, which is cool, I'm just very lazy. I'd rather crochet and read, watch tv shows and cook. Off to enjoy, I'm on my brother's computer so no pics.

What I'm Reading

I read Lonesome Dove when I was quite a bit younger and after watching the movie a couple of times I decided to read it again. Give it a go sometime, it's very engrossing. I also want to read all of the Harry Potter books again, I love love love all things Harry Potter! No I am not a teenager either but I don't think that matters. It's a story for all. I devour books so I love to hear about good books from other people. What are you reading?

Cherry Dump Dessert

A quick easy dessert but quite good. Here's the recipe.
2 (21oz.) cans cherry pie filling
1 (8oz.) can crushed pineapple, undrained
1 pkg. supermoist yellow cake mix
1/2 C. butter or margarine, melted
Heat oven to 350. Spread pie filling and crushed pineapple in an ungreased 13x9 pan. In a large bowl stir cake mix and melted butter until crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over the fruit. Bake 45-50 minutes or until top is deep golden brown. Cool 30 minutes, serve warm or cool. Enjoy!

A new Year

I've decided not to make any serious resolutions this year as I never follow through with them. One I would like to make is to be more crafty, making things and getting my etsy shop I share with my brother up and running. I love reading other people's blogs, mostly crochet and some cooking. I discovered Alice at http://crochethealingandraymond.wordpress.com. Love her projects, beautiful colors and easy patterns to follow. Check her out sometime, you're sure to be inspired! These are two granny mandalas  I've made from her patterns.
